Adventures in making a wall bed (Murphy Bed) this weekend...

Frame struts

Innards of a wall bed: locking mechanisms, struts, legs, mattress support...
basically lots of plywood and wood!

Needed help (thanks to Dak) to get the monstrous bed in place...but it was well worth it!  Now I have to paint the wall (I am unsure what colour, but anything will be better than the disastrous job done by my landlord (ughhh).  And don't even get me started on the length and amount of screws he had used for the shelving and baseboards I ripped out of the walls!!!

The bed (almost up), wanted to see the pistons do a little work and hold it up without locking.  Those things are awesome!  Don't know if I would've done one with the archaic crank mechanisms they used to use.

Next up....
1.  The blank canvas (aka the plywood) needs a little lovin', now what to do!
2.  The back wall needs either a wicked coat of paint or perhaps a beautiful piece of fabric to add that touch of romance in the (using the term loosely)...."bedroom".
3.  A small linen cupboard built in the space above the whole wall bed.
4.  Perhaps when I'm done with that...moving my attention to the kitchen and finally hanging my pictures and making the benches for my table...lots of fun for the upcoming weeks to come!!!

And really....this all came out of finally getting around to making a paddle that I wanted to create for the past few years...

Until next time!
